That’s why we’re leaning into precision IR heating. We’ve found a way to slash power draw and shave time off the cycle by getting smarter about how we apply heat. Getting the heat exactly where it needs to go If your temperature isn’t uniform across the wafer, you’ve got a problem. But you can’t just crank the heat and hope for the best, or you’ll fry the edges of your substrate. We use short-wave IR emitters because they’re fast. Really fast. Instead of heating up the entire chamber like a giant, slow oven, the heat hits the wafer surface directly. You stop wasting energy on the air around the part and just focus on the part itself. It’s a much tighter way to work. Stop guessing, start sensing A heating lamp is basically useless if you don’t know exactly what it’s doing. That’s why we bake high-speed IR sensors right into the system. It works like a conversation. The sensor watches the wafer in real-time and tells the lamp when to dial it back the second the target temperature is hit. No more “overshooting” the temp and wasting kilowatts just because the system was too slow to react. The honest truth about “Green” upgrades Here’s the thing: going green isn’t as simple as flipping a switch. These high-intensity lamps put out a lot of heat at the head. You can’t just swap out an old heater and call it a day. You have to look at your cooling manifolds. If your cooling can’t handle that concentrated load, your sensors will start to drift. And once that happens, your uniformity is gone. It’s a trade-off you have to plan for. We try to make these as close to “drop-in” replacements as possible. By tightening that thermal window and speeding up the ramp-up time, we’re cutting the total power used per wafer. It’s a straightforward way to shrink the cleanroom’s carbon footprint without messing with your yield.
