Water and hot quartz tubes don’t get along. It’s that simple. When a stray droplet hits a scorching heating element or sneaks into the electrical terminals, things go south fast. You get thermal shock, short circuits, and a lot of expensive downtime. We got tired of seeing heaters fail for the same predictable reasons, so we built our latest series to an IPX5 rating. What does IPX5 actually mean for you? Basically, it means you can hit this thing with water jets from any angle and it won’t flinch. We didn’t just slap a cover on it; we sealed the junction boxes and used gaskets that actually do their job. This isn’t just about a bit of rain. If you’re working in a plant with coolant spray, steam, or those aggressive wash-down cycles, you know how quickly corrosion eats through internal wiring. This design puts a stop to that. The battle against the fog Then there’s the fogging. You’ve probably seen it—that thin film of condensation that builds up on the heating surface. It looks harmless, but it’s a performance killer. That film absorbs the infrared radiation, which means less heat reaches your target and more heat stays trapped in the tube. That creates “hot spots” that can warp or break the lamp. To fix this, we added a specialized anti-fog coating and tweaked the airflow. Now, the surface stays clear. The heat goes exactly where you want it, not into the housing. A quick heads-up on heat Here is the trade-off. When you seal a unit tight enough to keep water out, you’re also making it harder for the internals to breathe. Because we’ve closed those gaps for the IPX5 protection, heat can get trapped. This is where you come in.**Make sure your mounting bracket allows for plenty of air to move around the back.**If you tuck the heater into a tiny, airtight box, those internal capacitors are going to wear out a lot faster. Give them some room to breathe. Where this actually helps These heaters are for the messy jobs. If you’re running a wet-process line or a high-humidity curing tunnel, you know that standard lamps usually burn out in a few weeks. It’s frustrating.
